When many great authors write, they have steps that they take for their work to turn out the best they can make it. For myself, I try and make the most out of my thoughts by starting with a blank screen. Everything that comes to my mind becomes word vomit on that blank screen. It will make no sense but it will, hopefully, become something that will. This is only one out of many techniques that I use while writing, but it is something that I have been using since day one. For reading, I use the read and rewrite technique. It truly benefits me when reading harder texts. After I read a paragraph, I go into the margins and write one or two key points or ideas just so that when I need to look back at it I know what paragraphs talk about what. These strategies can help me in the future with reading more challenging articles or papers, and writing them myself.
